Droip is now Kirki.

Yup.

The builder you know remains the same at its core, but now it’s backed by a stronger foundation with expanded capabilities, pushing the boundaries of no-code website building.

And yes, this probably raises a few questions like what’s changing, why this is necessary, and what it means for you, but rest assured, we’re here to guide you through all of it.

Why This Rebrand Felt Necessary

This rebrand has been on the table for a while.

We’ve talked about it before, that since Droip’s launch, we’ve worked hard to improve its visibility on search engines, and the challenge was the word “Droip” being constantly autocorrected to “Drop”.

This made it difficult for people to find the product, even when they were actively looking for it. From discovering the tool to finding helpful resources, it created unnecessary friction.

After a lot of thought, we realised the solution was right in front of us.

Kirki, the product we already had in our hands, felt like the perfect fit to solve this puzzle.

It just made sense with its powerful theme customizer capabilities, established organic visibility, and the bigger community around it.

What Is Kirki

Kirki is a popular theme customizer framework in WordPress that we acquired back in 2023.

With over 500,000 users, it’s widely trusted and well-loved across the industry.

In WordPress, a customizer is where you adjust how your website looks, including things like colors, typography, date settings, and more.

A framework like Kirki makes it easy to add that experience to themes.

So, instead of creating custom controls from scratch, theme designers use Kirki’s 30+ customizer controls to add powerful, ready-made customization options directly into their themes.

Now, naturally, this raises a question – why build on Kirki instead of simply rebranding Droip?

Why Kirki And Not Just a Simple Rebrand

Why not just rebrand Droip?

Well, here’s the thing: Kirki has strong recognition in the WordPress community and a large, trusting install base.

Rebranding to a new name brings us back to square one, while replacing Kirki alienates this existing user base, losing the years of trust built.

Droip integrating into Kirki, however, evolves Kirki from just a customizer framework to a visual website builder and customizer, expanding Kirki’s dev-focused audience to a wider range of people and vice versa.

This transition is also not one-sided. In the age of AI, it also future-proofs Kirki as more than just a simple tool.

What This Means For You

Droip rebranding into Kirki is more than just a change in identity.

It marks the start of a new chapter, with the same core but moving toward a more accessible, modern, and intuitive web design experience:

Less Friction Finding Help

With Kirki’s established community, stronger reputation, and most importantly, improved visibility, it will be much easier to find the tool and the resources around it.

Kirki Theme Customizer

Kirki’s customizer and website builder now come together as one package.

So not only can you build complete websites with no code, but theme creators can easily design customizable themes.

This makes it a perfect solution for all things web design.

Expanded Capabilities

With the latest version of Kirki, you can also expect greater flexibility and powerful new additions to the builder for an even better visual design experience.

Larger Community

By becoming a Kirki user, you’ll be joining a much bigger community. This means more shared knowledge and a stronger collective voice.

What’s New in the Kirki Builder

With Kirki, it was all about streamlining the workflow and refining the creation experience.

After a year of research, what we landed on was the Infinite Canvas, a first for WordPress. This shift in pov paved the way for even greater flexibility and intuitiveness:

The Infinite Canvas

With Kirki’s all-new Infinite Canvas, you’re no longer stuck inside “four walls”. Instead, you can zoom in to work on the details and zoom out to get a bird’s eye view of your design.

Side-by-Side Responsive Views

The infinite canvas also paves the way for side-by-side breakpoint views.

This means you can build for tablet, mobile, and other devices in tandem with the desktop view instead of having to constantly switch between breakpoints.

Parallel Editing with Element Island

Layers now stay visible when adding elements from the Element Island or switching between pages, reducing friction.

Cleaner and More Guided UI

The UI has also been simplified and styled to match popular design tools, ensuring easy navigation and keeping things exactly where you’d expect them to be.

Refined Interaction System

Interaction in Kirki has been reworked with a dedicated tab and a more powerful timeline editor, complete with playhead scrubbing, bulk editing, and more.
