Today, we’re bringing you Kirki eCommerce Alpha 2, now live on GitHub.
Last week we dropped Alpha 1 – the very first glimpse of our WordPress eCommerce plugin. Alpha 2 takes it a step further, with new functionality and real improvements to what was already there.
Here’s everything new.
What’s New in Kirki eCommerce Alpha 2
Alpha 1 laid the groundwork with all the core systems, including products, orders, payments, shipping, and a working storefront. Alpha 2 builds on top of that, with free shipping coupons, broader coupon improvements, a customer dashboard, new payment gateways, and beyond.
Full-Fledged Coupon System
Coupons now support free shipping, along with targeting by country, region, specific customer, product, or category. You can reward a single loyal customer, discount a specific product or category, or apply location-based offers. You can also set usage limits to control how often a coupon is redeemed.
Buy X Get Y is still on the way. We didn’t want to hold the rest of coupon support back for one edge case. The more common coupon types are ready now, and the rest is close behind.
Introduced Customer Dashboard
Alpha 2 has also added a Customer Dashboard. This means logged-in customers can now:
- View their order history
- Open any order to see its details
- Manage multiple saved addresses
- Update their account information
Search & Filter Across All Listings
Every product listing page now supports search and filtering. Customers can narrow results instead of scrolling through everything you sell, and find what they’re looking for in a couple of clicks instead of a couple of minutes.
If your online store has more than a handful of products, this is what makes it browsable instead of just scrollable.
Klarna and Square Join the Lineup
This update rounds out the payment options with two new gateways – Klarna and Square, adding to the list of gateways already available since Alpha 1:
- PayPal
- Stripe
- Mollie
- Authorize.net
- Razorpay
This gives customers even more ways to pay on top of the classic payment methods such as Cash on Delivery, Bank Transfer, and custom manual payment methods.
Cart Syncing: No Lost Carts Between Guest and Logged-in
Carts will soon follow customers from guest mode straight into their logged-in account, so nothing gets left behind when someone decides to sign in mid-shop.
But keep in mind that while the backend work is already done for Guest Checkout, the frontend experience is landing soon. Until then, this feature isn’t testable just yet, so hold off on looking for it in the storefront.
Help Us Find What’s Broken
This is still an alpha.
We’re continuing to build Kirki eCommerce in the open, gather feedback early, and fix what needs fixing before a wider release.
This release is for developers and early testers who are comfortable working with alpha versions. If something breaks, doesn’t work as expected, or is missing entirely, we want to hear about it.
