We’re releasing the first alpha of Kirki eCommerce, and it’s available today on GitHub.
This is a working first look at where Kirki eCommerce is headed, with the core systems already in place to build products, manage orders, configure store rules, process payments, and run a storefront.
It’s also our chance to put the product in the hands of early testers, gather feedback, and shape what comes next before the wider release.
We’re targeting a stable release within the next two months. This alpha is where your feedback has the most impact on shaping that release.
What is Kirki eCommerce
Kirki eCommerce is a standalone WordPress plugin, built independently from the core Kirki website builder. Kirki eCommerce is a full-featured commerce plugin built around the needs of online stores.
Note: Kirki eCommerce is currently an experimental alpha release. Some features may be incomplete or not work as expected. Please do not use it on live sites.
What’s in the Alpha
The alpha already includes the core systems you’d expect from a modern eCommerce platform:
- Product catalog: Products, variations, automatically generated variant matrices, unit pricing, categories, tags, brands, and collections
- Inventory: Stock tracking, committed quantities, stock statuses, backorders, and quantity limits
- Orders: Admin-created and storefront orders with separate payment and fulfillment states
- Coupons: Percentage and fixed discounts, usage limits, and validity windows
- Tax: Tax profiles, regional rates, EU/OSS support, VAT collection, reverse charge, and rule-based taxation
- Shipping: Zones, methods, flat rates, local pickup, weight-based rates, and conditional rules
- Payments: A pluggable gateway architecture with PayPal and Stripe available out of the box
- Storefront: Server-rendered shop, product, cart, account, and checkout pages
- SEO and web presence: Search previews, Open Graph settings, and reusable schema profiles
- Transactional emails: A working set of essential store emails
- Store settings: Nine functional settings areas covering the essentials of running a store
There’s already enough here to build a real product catalog, process orders, configure store rules, and test the complete shopping experience.
Here are some of the highlights.
Build and Manage Your Store

Kirki eCommerce gives you the core tools to build and run a store, from product management to order fulfillment.
Create products with variations, categories, tags, brands, collections, media, pricing, and inventory. Variants can be generated automatically from your attributes, with individual SKUs, pricing, stock, and other product data.

Inventory has its own workspace for tracking available and committed stock, managing stock status and backorders, and setting quantity limits.
Orders can be created from the admin or storefront, with separate payment and fulfillment states. You can manage customers, products, discounts, shipping, payments, tracking, invoices, cancellations, and more from the order workspace.
Tax, Shipping, and Payments

Kirki eCommerce uses a rule-based approach to tax and shipping.
Configure regions, rates, zones, and methods, then use conditions such as destination, cart subtotal, weight, product category, and shipping profile to control how your store calculates tax and shipping.
Payments use a pluggable gateway architecture, keeping payment providers separate from the core commerce engine. PayPal, Stripe, Mollie, Authorize.net, and Razorpay are available out of the box, along with Cash on Delivery, Bank Transfer, and custom manual payment methods.
A Storefront That Ships Built-in

Kirki eCommerce doesn’t stop at the WordPress admin.
The alpha includes a working, server-rendered storefront with shop, product, cart, checkout, and account pages.
The shop supports filters, breadcrumbs, navigation, product cards, and pagination, while cart and checkout support both guest and logged-in customers, coupons, and automatic recalculation.
The storefront also has its own SCSS-based design system with reusable components for common UI elements.
SEO and Web Presence

Each product includes an AI & Web Presence panel for managing its search and social presence.
You can configure SEO metadata, preview search results, manage Open Graph information and social cards, and assign reusable schema profiles with structured-data previews.
Alongside these core features, the alpha includes coupons, transactional emails, inventory management, and nine functional settings areas covering the essentials of running a store.
What’s Not There Yet
A few things are already built into the engine but aren’t exposed in the admin yet, including refunds, several coupon types such as free shipping and Buy X Get Y, multi-currency support, the email template editor, and an onboarding wizard.
More payment gateways beyond PayPal, Stripe, Authorize.net, etc are still to come.
These are part of the roadmap as Kirki eCommerce continues to evolve.

Help Us Shape Kirki eCommerce
This is a very initial release.
We’re putting Kirki eCommerce on GitHub before it goes live on WordPress.org so we can test it in the open, gather feedback early, and fix what needs fixing before a wider release.
This release is for developers and early testers who are comfortable working with alpha versions. If something breaks, doesn’t work as expected, or is missing entirely, we want to hear about it.
Join our Facebook community and share your thoughts. Not everything missing from the alpha is a bug, if you have an idea or workflow you’d like to see supported, we’d love to hear it there.
